Join us for the launch of Undocumented Knowledges, a digital archive that features the collected oral histories from UIC student activists who participated in these movements from the mid-2000s to the 2010s. The program will include a panel featuring some of the activists who will revisit this history, physical and digital archives that attendees can peruse, and screen printing.
Spring 2026

Presented by the UIC Latino Cultural Center, the Department of Latin American & Latino Studies, and the Department of English

University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) students have played an important role in undocumented social movements, both in Chicago and in the U.S. Notably, they led the first National Coming Out of the Shadows Day on March 10, 2010, an event that transformed the immigrant rights debate.

Join us for the launch of Undocumented Knowledges, a digital archive that features the collected oral histories from UIC student activists who participated in these movements from the mid-2000s to the 2010s. The program will include a panel featuring some of the activists who will revisit this history, physical and digital archives that attendees can peruse, and screen printing with @marimachamonarcapress.

This project was funded by the Mellon Foundation, the Institute for Policy and Civic Engagement, and the UIC Institute for the Humanities.
